Macheng is a land of magnificent treasures and outstanding people. This is the basis for the demonstration of the phenomena of rock and geological structure with the highest content of geological research in the Dabie Mountain World Geopark, Huanggang. Two revolutionary teams of the Red 28th Army and the Red 25th Army were born here. There are four geological sites which have comparative significance with the world's geological sites. This is the scientific research base of the geological tectonic phenomena in the Dabie Mountains, and there are rocks ranging from purple-red conglomerate of more than 100 million years to "ancient land core" of 2.8 billion years ago. They have traversed 28 years of geological time and space and formed a most beautiful geological scientific research line. They are the best experimental sites for geological tectonic phenomena in the whole country and even in Asia. They are of comparative significance in the world.

Numerous exotic peaks are competing to show the wind and current, which is the result of the long evolution of geological structure, but also the sculpture of nature. The Guifeng Mountain Park of Huanggang Dabie Mountain World Geopark is situated in the territory of Macheng City, with a total of 18 geological sites. Today, we will explain several world-class geological relics and some geological attractions in Guifeng Mountain Park.

Muzidian 2.8 Billion Years Old Land Core

Muzidian Old Land Core, located in Tianjingshan Village, Muzidian Town, Guifeng Mountains, covers an area of 200 square meters. It was the oldest ancient land nuclear material in Dabie Mountains 2.8 billion years ago. The rock body and the TTG Series in Biaoziao are known as the root of the Dabie Mountains. They are the keys to revealing the early evolution history of the earth and have important scientific research value. It belongs to the world-class important geological heritage protection point.

This outcrop, with an outcrop area of more than 5 x 10 square meters, is a remnant at the turning of the highway 1.5 kilometers east of Muzidian Town (southwest of the large outcrop area of Muzidian (Yan) Formation). The main lithology is amphibolite, amphibolite or pyroxene are found in the central part of the area, and epidote is common. The gneissic monzonitic granite of Shengli gneissic granite suite is extensively engulfed and migmatized intensely, forming banded and brecciary migmatites, and more granitic or feldspathic veins are interpenetrated, with a small amount of pyrite in the network fissures.

(Note: The paleocontinental core, in short, is the part of the earth's crust that has been stabilized and rarely deformed over a long geological period.)

West-trending ductile shear zone in Lujia Hebei

The west-trending ductile shear zone in Lujia Hebei Province is located under the old bridge of Lujiahe Township House, Guifeng Mountain Park. Its area is about 19 km long and its width is about 1 km. The wall rocks are granitic gneiss of the Middle-Neoproterozoic Hongan Group, trending northwest and tending south-west with obvious zonation. They are tectonic gneiss belt, mylonite belt, shear fold belt, breccia migmatite belt and eyeball gneiss belt from Dengjiashan to Lujiahe. In the zone, primary mylonite and straight gneiss are dominant, and a large number of rootless folds and various S-C fabrics are developed. Generally, amphibolite facies is a ductile nappe shear zone from south to north.

NNE-trending Macheng-Tuanfeng ductile shear zone

The NNE-trending Macheng-Tuanfeng ductile shear zone, located at the edge of the Taolin River Sanhewan Highway in Guifeng Mountain Park, is the largest ductile shear zone found in the mainland of China. According to geological experts, it was formed in 199-133 million years ago, and spread in the north-north-east direction. It extends 40 kilometers and is 2-5 kilometers wide as a whole. This large-scale strong rock deformation zone controls the eastern boundary of the huge Macheng Basin, which is an important geological clue to explore the formation and evolution of the Dabie Mountains.

Danxia Landform in Jiulong Mountain

Jiulong Mountain is located in the northwest corner of Dabie Mountain World Geopark (Yanjiahe Town, Macheng City). It is a peculiar mountain, winding nine hills from the center to all sides. The longest one is 24 km, and the shortest one is more than 500 meters. It is like nine dragons circling around. It is commonly known as "Nine Dragons Entangling the Top".

Tu/Hu Cheng

The most distinctive feature of Jiulong Mountain is that it preserves a relatively complete section of Cretaceous red beds. The section is composed of Cretaceous purple-red conglomerate, which represents the purple-red conglomerate series formed by the flooding of fault basin under dry and hot climate conditions. Gravel is mainly granite pebble, angular, sub-angular, sorting, grinding roundness difference. This section is one of the standard sections of Cretaceous red beds in Dabie Mountains.

Drifting in Tianjingshan Grand Canyon

Tianjingshan drifting, located in the Guifeng Mountains Muzidian Town Tianjingshan. Because of the valley Canyon topography, the development is the first Canyon waterfall in China. The whole length of the river is 5.8 kilometers, and the water surface drop reaches 260 meters. It is known for its adventure and is known as "the first drift of the drop in Central China". The ecological environment here is excellent, which is divided into three sections A, B and C. The highest drift drop is up to 150 meters.

The Guifeng Mountain Park of the Dabie Mountain World Geopark in Huanggang is a magnificent textbook on crustal evolution of orogenic belt.
