On March 16th, Ye Xianlin, Honorary Chairman of the Li Siguang Research Association in Hubei Province, and Hu Daoyin, Chairman of the Association, went to the Guifeng Mountain Scenic Area to investigate the geological relics of Guifeng Mountain. Xiao Hongjuan, Deputy Mayor of Huanggang City People's Government, and Hong Weimin, Deputy Mayor of Macheng City People's Government, accompanied the investigation.

Experts unanimously believe that the Guifeng Mountain Scenic Area in Macheng is an important component of the Dabie Mountain Geopark. There are numerous geological relics and attractions, which are representative and typical. The terrain here is unique, and the peak rock mass is complex. After multiple periods of tectonic movement, gradual uplift, long-term weathering, collapse, and geostress, the most typical granite landform of the Dabie Mountain has been formed.

The Guifeng Mountain Scenic Area in Macheng, Hubei Jiaotou is a national AAAA level scenic area and the core park of the Huanggang Dabie Mountain World Geopark. The geological and geomorphic landscapes include the rising sun of Guifeng Mountain, the Cretaceous red layer profile, Jiulong Mountain, Wang'er Stone, Xianrenjiao, Tianshuo Stone, Shijian Stone, etc. It has two sets of ductile shear systems in the northeast and northwest directions, among which the northeast oriented ductile shear zone is the Macheng Tuanfeng ductile shear zone, which has obvious zoning, From west to east, it can be roughly divided into: fragmented fabric belt - A-type fold belt - S-C fabric belt - fragmented fabric belt. The northwest oriented ductile shear zone, also known as the Lujiahe ductile shear zone, is mainly composed of primary mylonite and strong gneiss within the shear zone, with a large number of rootless folds, shear plastic flow folds, and various S-C fabrics developed within the zone. Fragments and stretching lines can be seen locally, and shear folds are mainly sharp edged and oblique folds, with various types and shapes.

Turtle Peak Rising Sun

The rising sun on the turtle peak is known as the "number one turtle in the world". It is a granite formed during the process of orogenic uplift and magma intrusion during the Yanshan Movement; On the basis of the fault block mountains commonly formed in the Dabie Mountains region during the Himalayan movement, a turtle shaped like a sun swallowing turtle was formed due to multiple sets of rock joints and fractures under long-term weathering and gravitational collapse.

Wang'er Stone

Wang'er Stone, also known as Da'er Stone, was formed approximately 170 million years ago in the Middle Jurassic and is a local geological relic site. Its appearance resembles a pair of mother and son arms clasped together, hence its name. Legend has it that anyone who wants to have a child can simply throw the stone through the crack in their mother's arm to achieve their wish.

Immortal feet

From the turtle head down to the platform, and up the stone steps to the left, the granite pictorial stone you see is the "Immortal Foot". Its formation was a inclusion in the black cloud plagioclase gneiss of the ancient Proterozoic Dabie Mountains (rock) group. After exposure to the surface, due to its weaker weathering resistance compared to the surrounding rock, it eventually formed a pit resembling a human foot after long years of wind and rain erosion.

Tianshuo stone

Tianshuo Stone, also known as Chongdan Stone, is a huge, semi suspended stone located high above the turtle head, with two pointed ends resembling a shuttle. It is named after its appearance that resembles a shuttle woven by a celestial fairy. It is formed by long-term spherical weathering, rainwater erosion, and gravitational collapse, as well as chemical and physical weathering. It has multiple sets of rock joints and was formed approximately 170 million years ago in the Middle Jurassic.

Test sword stone

The sword testing stone is named after its resemblance to being split by a divine sword. It is a rock that is divided in half, with its two plates open and the widest point greater than 80 centimeters. The rock is a black cloud diorite granite from the Songlinwan unit of the Yanshan period, with developed vertical joints (cracks) and a strike of 40 °. Due to rainwater erosion and erosion along the vertical joints of rock blocks, cracks gradually deepen and widen, or may be caused by the cracking of joints.
