Red stories carry the red memory, condense the red tradition and flow the red gene. Listen to the red stories and inherit the red culture. Guifeng Mountain tells you the local red stories of Macheng.

The Origin of "Tunri Stone Carving" in Guifeng Mountain

On the stone wall near the Guanyin Hall near the turtle head, there is a one-meter square stone carving which is striking. Stone inscriptions are official scripts, the upper one-third of the area, engraved with the words "swallow the sun"; the lower two-thirds of the place engraved with the cause and time of the stone: "In the winter of the Republic of China, the Japanese invaded the Kuomintang and moved to the county to govern the mountain under the Shale stone with indignation. Macheng County Chang Zhongshao." The whole stone carving looks dignified, elegant and graceful. It deserves to be the highlight of the scenic spot of Guifeng.

The most memorable part of stone carving is the word "swallow the sun". These two puns artistically combine the ancient legend of Guifeng Mountain with the determination of all the people to rise up against the Japanese aggressors in the face of the national crisis at the time of blackstone, which is very touching. Seeing this stone carving, it is necessary to say something about Zhong Shao.

Zhongshao is also known as Chunan. Born in 1902 at Dingjiaao, Muzidian, Macheng County. He graduated from the higher education class of Huangpu Military Academy in 1932, was captain of the National Self-Defense Force of Macheng in 1936, and was head of Macheng County in the winter of 1938.

Zhong Shao's appointment as mayor of Macheng County was recommended by the underground organizations of the Communist Party of China. After the fall of Wuhan in October 1938, the 171 division of Li Zongren, commander of the fifth war zone, entered Muzidian. In order to adapt to the situation behind the enemy lines, the Dabie Mountains are divided into guerrilla areas in the Central Plains and the eastern part of Hubei is under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province. At that time, it was in the climax of the Anti-Japanese War, when Liao Lei, General of Guangxi, was the chairman of Anhui Province (later reprimanded by Chiang Kai-shek for reusing the Communist Party and died of cerebral haemorrhage). He needed the cooperation of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party to mobilize the masses and consolidate the guerrilla areas in the Central Plains. In early November, Liao Lei personally went to Muzidian to hold a meeting to replace County heads in eastern Hubei. Yu Cheng (Yu Liangju), the former mayor of Macheng County, was appointed by Chen Cheng when he was the chairman of Hubei Province. He was the regiment deputy of Xia Douyin, the leader of the Communist Party of Eastern Hubei Province, which was not conducive to the cooperation of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in uniting and fighting against Japan. General Liao Lei therefore appointed Zhong Shao, recommended by the Political Department of the 171 Division, as county governor.

After taking office as mayor of Macheng County, Zhong Shao cooperated very well with the work of the Political Department and attached great importance to and supported the work of mobilizing the masses to resist Japan. With the support of the Ministry of Political Affairs and him, the Youth Anti-Japanese Association was quickly established, which not only provided funds and office space for the establishment, but also extensively joined the organization by young people in the whole county of Macheng, including those in the occupied areas. Even within the enemy's maintenance association, there were members of the Youth Anti-Japanese Association. Lines, targets and so on, we can all get information in advance, which will give the enemy a heavy blow. From the winter of 1938 to the summer of 1939, the anti-Japanese war in Macheng was at its best. The Japanese invaders swept the Dabie Mountains nine times and were repulsed by our anti-Japanese army and people. In October 1938, Baiguo and Macheng, occupied by Japanese aggressors, were recovered successively. During this period, the Macheng County Government moved to work in the Turtle River. Thus, there was a stone inscription with the word "swallow the sun" written by Zhong Shaofen.

Nowadays, some visitors see "swallow the Japanese stone carvings", lamenting the artistic conception of these two words, which can be comparable to Yue Wumu's "Man Jiang Hong". Patriotic complex, the sky can learn!
